Dave Dill Custom Knife $1150 Lot 76

This Dave Dill Custom Knife is a scale release automatic opening knife. This is the standard 3 inch knife he makes. This one has a pearl handle with red liner and single bolster. Both the blade and bolster are Damascus steel.

Dave has only made about 6 auto opening knives using Damascus steel. I have had 4 of them and this one and the ivory handle one on this site are the last two I will ever have. He is not making any more as he says that Damascus steel is too difficult to work with.

The scale release design is also referred to as a slide handle. Notice the picture of the knife being held and notice the right side handle slides slightly up to release the blade. The blade locks in the open position and releases to close by again sliding the right handle up to release the blade from the locked position.
